What does the futue hold?

November 12, 2008

Next for the University is a new football coach. The talk of the town. Talk of the chat rooms. So who will be next? Whoever it is has some big shoes to fill. Like it or not there is still love for “The BIG Guy” He had a good run for several years. I know he had solid talent. I know he should have won more titles. But think about the number of titles Florida State should have won. Same with Miami. Both teams had a lot of talent for several years. If you want a talent rich team that always seems to lose one game, look no farther than  Carrol at USC. So, what is truely considered a turn around in the program? Is it a carrousel of coaches like the plague that went through Alabama? Does it take 2 years like Saban. Or, is it more like 5? I dont think 5 years will go over well. Not with the 3 to 4 million being dangled on the table. Big shoes!

Defensive Battle

October 31, 2008

Saturday night it will be Fulmer against the “old Ball coach” unfortunately for Fulmer nothing is in his favor. Spurrier has his number, Tennessee has no offense and South Carolina has a great defense. I just cant think of anything that makes me believe the vols can win this game. With the exception of 3 pick sixes for Eric Berry. I keep thinking if Fulmer wants to win this game he is going to have to gamble and try something new and every week he just fails to do it. Sure he put EB in for one play on offense (whoooo huge gamble) one play no touchdown hmmm I guess we better throw that idea out the door. Is the offensive line that important? are they the reason the nothing on offense seems to work? Or is it just the fact that we don’t have the talent and no play makers. I mean NO playmakers.. If it came down to one play for all the marbles right now who would you go to? There is no clear answer to that and there in lies a big problem. I am afraid Saturday night there will be a lot of disappointed vol fans(or maybe they will be happy cause it will be one step closer to a change) as much as I want the vols to win as much as they may play inspired they just don’t have what it takes to win.

Some thoughts for thought

October 22, 2008

In the expression topsy-turvy, what exactly does turvy mean?

As long as you have decided to drink all day there is nothing wrong with starting early in the morning.

If the reason for climbing Mt Everest is because it is hard to do, why does everyone go up the easy side?

do you ever open a phonebook to the exact page you needed? doesn’t that feel good?

people get all upset about torture but when you get down to it, it’s a really good way of finding out something a person doesn’t want you to know.

Born between 1939 and 1979 read this

October 14, 2008

I thought this was a pretty good email I got.

To Those of You Born1930 – 1979

At the end of this email is a quote of the month by Jay Leno. If you don’t read anything else, please

read what he said.

Very well stated, Mr. Leno.

TO ALL THE KIDS WHO SURVIVED THE

1930’s, 40’s, 50’s, 60’s and 70’s!!First, we survived being born to mothers who smoked and/or drank while they were pregnant.

They took aspirin, ate blue cheese dressing, tuna from a can and didn’t get tested for diabetes.

Then after that trauma, we were put to sleep on our tummies in baby cribs covered with bright colored lead-base paints.

We had no childproof lids on medicine bottles, locks on doors or cabinets and when we rode our bikes, we had baseball caps not helmets on our heads.

As infants & children, we would ride in cars with no car seats, booster seats, seat belts or air bags.

Riding in the back of a pick up truck on a warm day was always a special treat.

We drank water from the garden hose and not from a bottle.

We shared one soft drink with four friends, from one bottle and no one actually died from this.

We ate cupcakes, white bread, real butter and bacon. We drank Kool-aid made with real white sugar. And, we weren’t overweight. WHY?

Because we were always outside, playing…that’s why!

We would leave home in the morning and play all day, as long as we were back when the streetlights came on.

No one was able to reach us all day. And, we were O.K.We would spend hours building our go-carts out of scraps and then ride down the hill, only to find out we forgot the brakes. After running into the bushes a few times, we learned to solve the problem.

We did not have Play stations, Nintendo’s and X-boxes. There were no video games, no 150 channels on cable, no video movies or DVD’s, no surround-sound or CD’s, no cell phones, no personal computers, no Internet and no chat rooms.WE HAD FRIENDS and we went outside and found them!We fell out of trees, got cut, broke bones and teeth and there were no lawsuits from these accidents.

We ate worms and mud pies made from dirt, and the worms did not live in us forever. We were given BB guns for our 10th birthdays, made up games with sticks and tennis balls and, although we were told it would happen, we did not put out very many eyes.

We rode bikes or walked to a friend’s house and knocked on the door or rang the bell, or just walked in and talked to them.Little League had tryouts and not everyone made the team. Those who didn’t had to learn to deal with disappointment.

Imagine that!!The idea of a parent bailing us out if we broke the law was unheard of. They actually sided with the law! These generations have produced some of the best risk-takers, problem solvers and inventors ever.

The past 50 years have been an explosion of innovation and new ideas.

We had freedom, failure, success and responsibility, and we learned how to deal with it all.If YOU are one of them? CONGRATULATIONS!You might want to share this with others who have had the luck to grow up as kids, before the lawyers and the government regulated so much of our lives for our own good.

While you are at it, forward it to your kids so they will know how brave and lucky their parents were.

Kind of makes you want to run through the house with scissors, doesn’t it ?

~The quote of the month is by Jay Leno:’With hurricanes, tornados, fires out of control, mud slides, flooding, severe thunderstorms tearing up the country from one end to another, and with the threat of bird flu and terrorist attacks, are we sure this is a good time to take God out of the Pledge of Allegiance?’For those that prefer to think that God is not watching over us…go ahead and delete this. For the rest of us…pass this on.

Vols Chicken (simple and delicious)

October 6, 2008

Being from Tennessee, It only seems natuaral to have a chicken recipe named after us. This one has been in my family for years. I hope you enjoy it. If you do please let me know.

Its called VOLS chicken because of the ingredients in the maridnade.

V=vinegar     O=oil      L=lemon      S=soy

1 part vinegar, 1 part oil, 1 part lemon juice(the kind in the green bottle) 1/2 part soy

i.e. 1 cup vinegar, 1 cup oil, 1 cup lemon juice, 1/2 cup soy sauce.

Mix all the ingredients in a large zip lock bag or large bowl. Add Chicken and let marinade for as long as you would like. Overnight is best.

Grill and serve….your gonna love it

Real Worl Road Rules

October 5, 2008

Yeah i’m 40 years old, yeah I watch RW/RR The Island. I cant help it I love this stuff. I have watched every episode of every challenge. I even remeber watching the very first RR’s who would have ever thought it would have lasted this long. I’m not so sure how much I like the Island just yet. Oh I’m gonna keep watching no matter what. I have a feeling that the Alliance is going to crumble due to some new rules that they have not revealed yet. I liked Kenny better as a goofy guy who justed wanted to look cool he doesnt make a good ring leader. I cant believe how much TJ is giving them shit!!!! it’s awesome. One thing I think is funny is they are supposed to be stranded on the Island with rationed food but they can have all the alcahol that they want…Got make good TV. :)   Hey Robin quit trying to be tough you cant do it. Even the rookie slammed you.  I hope Ev gets a chance to show her stuff. well cant wait until Wedsnesday to see what happens
